Saiya Tasa opened her khao mun gai (or Thai chicken rice) restaurant, Sirichai, 21 year ago around the corner from Three Kings Monument in the heart of old Chiang Mai. Built up as a family business, her nieces and nephews pitch in, serving daily breakfast and lunch to their hungry and eager patrons. Chiang Mai’s signature curried soup noodles, khao soy, is also on offer as is a fried option of the traditionally steamed chicken. All recipes are family treasures passed down by Saiya’s parents who she remembers with a twinge of nostalgia. Don’t miss out on the bitter melon soup with distinctive Chinese herbal aromas, paying homage to Saiya’s Chinese heritage.
6am-5pm Sunday-Friday, 6am-3pm Saturdays.
